Desert Sun Mining Corp (TSX DSM AMEX DEZ) modified Feb 17, 2006
The
Jacobina Gold Mine and associated 100% owned 155-kilometre long Bahia Gold Belt
property, is located in the State of
Proven and Probable mineral reserves in the Jacobina Mine area as
of JANUARY
25, 2006 ARE 21,580,000 TONNES GRADING 2.18G AU/T CONTAINING 1,510,000 OUNCES OF
GOLD. (August 11, 2005 are 17,620,000 tonnes at 2.11 g Au/t containing
1,200,000 ounces of gold.) As a result of the Desert Sun's exploration programs
to date, Measured and Indicated resources total 27,900,000 tonnes at 2.57 g Au/t
containing 2,311,000 ounces of gold, and Inferred Resources total 33,600,000
tonnes at 2.80 g Au/t containing 3,029,000 ounces of gold. The mineral reserves
are included within the Measured and Indicated mineral resources.
In August 2005, Desert Sun announced that it was proceeding with
development of its second mine, the Morro do Vento mine, which will add another
50,000 ounces per year production capacity. In addition, there are three
advanced exploration/development projects in the Jacobina Mine area: Canavieiras,
Morro do Vento Extension and Serra do Córrego. Exploration of the extensive
Bahia Gold Belt has outlined a number of exciting target areas of which the most
advanced is Pindobaçu, located 50km due north of the town of Jacobina.
